Steamprom Update and Contest = AWESOME!

Steamprom! STEAMPROM! You guys – it’s this Saturday! PAARRRRTTYYYYY!

Remember to get your tickets ahead of time at: http://www.woovite.com/steamprom You’ll be saving yourself $10! Also, I mean, really, buying things off the internet is all the rage, so you should want to buy these ahead of time. Admit it: you need the cool points.

Something else I feel honor bound to mention is that you don’t have to come dressed all Steampunk-y. I mean you can – I plan on looking like a crazy person. But what we want more than you coming dressed in gears and lace is you coming and having fun! So come whatever you wear. Sundress? Perfect!  Furry? Strange, but I’ll allow it. Yankee t-shirt and jeans? Go forth! I’ll be giving you death glare personally, but that nothing to do with how good you look in those Levi’s and more to do with my deep seated hatred of the Bombers. So yeah – the clothes don’t matter us. Just come and party and all will be good.

We also have a contest running – YEAH! If you follow our Facebook Page you’ve seen that we need a good URL for Liz’s website and Lizmuller[dot]com is already taken. Reply in comments with you suggestion either here or on FB and the winner will receive an arms-length of raffle tickets for Steamprom. Which you know you want because our raffles are EPIC.

Steamprom also got itself an article in the Bronxville Daily Voice – CLICK TO READ!

I hope to see you all this Saturday – be it in your costumes, sundresses, or jeans. (I’ll just be averting my eyes from your torso, you Jeter-loving crazy pants.)

Full Steam Ahead – Steamprom is Almost Here!

Another blog post? Already? Why that’s just absurd, why would I do that?

(I’ve been DYING to use that gif, thank you for letting me get away with it)

OK so in all serious, this is HUGE news, guys! Steamprom is officially less than a month away, on July 14th. Four weeks until the greatest summer party ever! (next to the ones from the 50s where everyone just does the twist for hours on end and apparently Elvis shows up – those always looked like a blast, daddio.)

For all your information needs see below: (ooh official!)

You can purchase tickets, as well as PiPE DRINK bracelets for those of you 21 and over, here: http://www.woovite.com/steamprom in order to enjoy the pre-order discount.

If you’ve been to one of our fundraising bashes before you know a better time really isn’t to be found anywhere. Costumes, contests, BOSS RAFFLES, merch, INCREDIBLE food, and a brand new performance of Distorted music.

Honestly I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited for anything than I am for Distorted, volume 3 (and while we all know that’s not technically true as I am a nerd of ridiculous proportions, you can believe my sentiment is genuine)

So make sure to get your tickets now! You can also check out the Facebook event and share your enthusiasm here: http://www.facebook.com/events/161365900655149/

And FYI – I plan on winning Steamprom Queen – just letting you know. You best bring your A game kids. *cue mic drop here*

The First of Many Updates

Hooray! I love updates! I love them because I get to remind you all of all of the awesome things we’ve posted that you should check out and all of the even awesomer things we may have coming up. Huzzah!

I’m in a good mood today, can ya tell?

FIRST of all, have you watched the full video of More Dance yet? Cause you should. Yes, I know. It’s been out for a while, but um hello we’re doing UPDATES!

And while I’m embedding YouTube videos, I have to remind, beg, implore you even, to watch it on YouTube. To subscribe to our channel there and comment and like the video there. I know it sounds silly, but it helps us out a TON. Trust me on this: I majored in being on consistently on the internet.

If you enjoyed More Dance (and as you are human and have a beating heart I’m going to assume you did) and don’t mind clicking on another link I’m going to send you to like a page on Facebook. Diana Pettersen, one of our three choreographers from More Dance, has a page up, for you to check out here: http://www.facebook.com/PettersenChoreography So head over there if you don’t mind. *bats eyelashes*

That’s all for this one – I don’t want to flood you with too much instruction (AWESOME instruction). There is a ton of information about our next two shows coming down the pipe shortly, so keep an eye out for that.

V-Day Love and Regular Love!

I can’t believe our V-Day event is already a week past! To everyone who came out to see us I have but one thing to say:

We had an absolute ball and were quite touched at the sight of so many people supporting us. You helped us make our V-Day event both successful and meaningful. See? Look at us all pink and happy! (That sounds wrong…)

We’ve got a couple more big shows coming up in the near future: Steamprom in July and A Midsummer Night’s Dream in August. We’re working hard on both of those right now and I’ll have lots more information coming up really soon.

Really really soon because I CAN’T EVEN BEGIN to express how fast this year is going. The Earth really has to calm it’s rotations – I’m getting dizzy over here.

We also just want to throw some real life congratulations into the mix here. In the past 5 months two sets of PiPE DREAM couple have gone and gotten themselves engaged (I KNOW RIGHT?!)

Congratulations to PiPE DREAMer Brigid Martin and Jeff Motta who got engaged at the end of our 3 Ghosts run. And to resident PiPE DREAM musicians, actors, and arrangers Mike Macagnone and Marissa Brozier who got engaged just a few weeks ago.

SO MUCH AWESOME in our little group! We should totes celebrate by riding around in Escalades until the sun comes up.

Then again maybe not.

Gratuitous Gushing and Other News

To quote Elle Woods: OH. MY. GOD. Oh my god, you guys! Thank you so much to everyone who came out to the More Dance event. Not only did we have a great turnout and a stellar performance from our dancers, but the EPIC APPLAUSE at the end of the show might be one of the greatest things I’ve ever heard. It means so much to us to have supporters who honestly enjoy what we put on. The immediate standing ovation and accompanying cheers may very well have been the most enthusiastic response we’ve ever had – and that is saying something. It really does mean the world to us that you enjoyed seeing the show as much as we enjoyed putting it on.

OK I’m starting to ugly cry. Let’s move on, shall we?

We’ve got two (count ’em: TWO) events coming up in April!

The first is our PiPE DREAM Zumba fundraiser.

Come join us Saturday April 14th at the Bronxville Women’s Club for a Zumba class taught by Danielle Moreau and Shannon Wade. There’ll be Zumba, dancing, raffles, a smoothie bar and much more. You can purchase a ticket for just $30 here: (Tickets will alaso be available for $40 at the door.)
More detailed info can be found on the Facebook event page here:

The next is our V-Day event in the city.

Saturday April 28th at Shetler Studios in Manhattan we’ll be performing The Vagina Monologues. Seating is extremely limited, so we are asking that if you’d like to come to reserve a ticket through one of our cast members. Tickets are only $20 and all of the proceeds go to charity. #karmapoints As the event gets closer I’ll have a bit more information for you, so sit tight!

Remember to mark your calendars for BOTH events and I hope to see you there.

Best wishes!

You Can Dance if You Want to

I nearly forgot to share an exciting piece of news with everyone! Well, I suppose it’s news if you only get your news from this site, in which case you should really comment more often – it’ll force me to update more.

Anywho, this Sunday March 25th is the PiPE DREAM Dance event at the Bronxville Women’s Club (insert flail-y Kermit arms here)

Come and enjoy as three different choreographers present their perspective takes on PiPE DREAM music. We have a whole group of dancers, ranging in age and skill set, all working their dancing-butts off to bring you a stellar performance.

side note: I totally cheated the other day and saw a little bit of one of the dances in a rehearsal and it was seriously impressive.

Tickets are $20 (kids under 12 are $5 and kids under 5 are free). Doors open at 7pm for Tea and Dessert and the show begins at 7:30.  If you plan on coming please (pretty pretty please) reserve your tickets by emailing us: tickets@pipedreamtheatre.com.

Get pumped! It’s going to be really really (third time’s the charm) really good.  You don’t want to miss out.

See? If John agrees it must be true. See you all on Sunday!

Updates and Tuna News!

I promised you all a post on all our spiffy updates and BY GOD that’s what I’m going to do! Now if you visit our main page you’ve probably already seen most of the shiny new awesome that exists, but just in case:

Our news page has the rest of our season laid out all nice and pretty for your drooling pleasure.  From this month’s Greater Tuna allllll the way to our Winter show in the city.  Some dates still need to be written in stone, but you can basically gird your loins for a PiPE DREAM event every other month. Things that are awesome indeed.

We also have added lots of new designs and products to our Printfection store. Make sure to click around the different shows, and remember that most of the styles come in multiple colors – so don’t be dissuaded by all the white t-shirts you see on a page.  I personally will be buying ALL THE THINGS and you should as well.

I want to stress the fact that you should all subscribe to our YouTube channel.  There are some great trailers and videos from past shows, and upcoming shows, and there will always be more to come. If you subscribe you won’t miss a thing.

For example:

Yeah! Remember that from last post? Well I’m reminding you again; Greater Tuna is coming up fast.  It’ll be at the Bronxville Women’s club on February 25th at 8pm (preceded by dinner at 7) and on February 26th at 3pm. Tickets at the door are $50 for Saturday and $40 for Sunday. BUT, just for you PiPE DREAMers, if you purchase advance tickets through us you get a discount. (Cue Oprah: YOU get a discount! YOU get a discount! YOU get a discount!) Email tickets@pipedreamtheatre.com and you can get tickets to Saturday’s show for $25 and tickets to Sunday for $20. (Did I mention Saturday includes dinner at 7?) You MUST email us if you want the reduced ticket price. Hooray!

Trust me you want to see this show. It’s going to be HILARIOUS. See? All caps word? Must be true.  Plus if you don’t come then our two actors will be forced to simply talk to each other in Spanish and luchador masks for two hours. And while I’m sure they’d enjoy that, it would appear quite pathetic to the rest of us.

Right. So. For the TL;DR crew:

  1. Schedule your 2012 PiPE DREAM season – shows and dates will continue to be posted on our website!
  2. Buy our stuff – it’s made of awesome (and cotton and plastic and all sorts of other material)
  3. Subscribe to our YouTube channel
  4. GREATER TUNA!

Thanks for all of your support and reading guys!

As they say in my hometown, don’t forget to be awesome.

Greater Tuna: Coming VERY Soon!

Greeting PiPE DREAMers!

I come to you today, on the most holy of all American holidays, to remind you of the second most exciting event taking place this February.

PiPE DREAM theatre is performing Greater Tuna at the Bronxville Women’s Club on Fenruary 25th and 26th!  This hilarious comedy about a small, quirky town in Texas, features over 20 different characters, but only two actors. (Say WHAT?!)

The fine characters of Tuna, Texas were so excited about these upcoming performances that they made 3 trailers for you all to enjoy, and put them up on our YouTube page. If you’re not subscribed to us (and really that’s just blasphemous) you may have missed them so I’ll embed them below.

See what I mean – HILARIOUS!

So stop what you’re doing right now.  Walk away from the nachos, put Jim Nantz’ commentary on pause, and go mark your calendars for February 25th and 26th.  It’s not to be missed.

As a quick afterthought, we’ve made some significant changes to our website, and added new merchandise to our Printfection store (all links in the link tab).  I’ll be sure to detail all of the cool new things to check out, as well as hammer down the details for the rest of our shows this year, but for now I want you all focused on the Super Bo I mean GREATER TUNA!

phew.  that was close.

We Still Have One More Show to Sing

It seems impossible to comprehend, that after all this time, 3 Ghosts could be coming to a close this evening.

I figured it would be prudent to put up a reaction to the show’s run before the final performance, because if I waited until after the show tonight, I swear you’d be able to see my tear stained text on your computers.  It’s going to be that bad.

Which is probably the most amazing thing about 3 Ghosts.  This cast has become incredibly intertwined.  It’s a fact that can be seen in the dressing rooms as everyone chats with each other, backstage as everyone lip-syncs along with the show, and on stage as every member of this 40-person cast beams with pride as they sing.  Regardless of what some people may have thought, our bright smiles and laughter was never forced or meant to be cheesy.  We all honestly have a phenomenal time on and off stage with one another.  I don’t know one cast member who does not openly adore this show.

Luckily for us, our audience seemed to love it as well.  In our 17 show run, we managed to sell 87% of house, and not only to family members and friends (although without them we wouldn’t have been able to perform the show at all.) We had many people who came in off the street, knowing nothing about us; we even had a few reviewers.  And luckily, quite a few of them liked us enough to say nice things.

A special shoutout has to go to Robert Gonyo of the Go See a Show Podcast who came in to see the show, and after interviewed half the cast on stage.  Plus he totally mentioned this blog at the end of his podcast (to which I thought: QUICK! MUST UPDATE!) You can listen to the interview at his website here:  http://goseeashowpodcast.com/2011/12/16/the-cast-creators-of-3-ghosts-from-pipe-dream-theatre/ (or subscribe to him on  iTunes!)

This has been an incredible 3 weeks (and 5 months if you want to include the rehearsal process).  To say goodbye is going to be hard, but we’ll be able to do it.  I mean if a bunch of crazy kids can get on a stage and somehow perform this show, surely this is doable.

So a Merry Christmas to you!

(Uh oh… The tears… they are starting.)

ADDENDUM! I’ll make sure to put up some production, and backstage shots in the coming weeks.  We also have the CD finished and it has been for sale at the show.  If you didn’t manage to snag a ticket before the end, or didn’t notice that they were being sold, we’ll see about getting it up digitally for purchase.

Oh and I almost forgot… HAPPY NEW YEAR!

TICKETS!!!

Simply because you haven’t heard it enough: 3 Ghosts is opening in just over a week (cue nausea and profuse sweating) and we are begging reminding you to get your tickets soon! Take a peek at our shiny new poster, and then keep scrolling for all relevant tickety information.

Image

Tickets are super easy to obtain from Telecharge.  You can do that by going to this link here: http://www.telecharge.com/BehindTheCurtain.aspx?prodid=8672

Or if the interwebs makes you feel confused in the brain, you can call Telecharge on your fellytone!  212-239-6200 or 800-432-7250 will get you to an automated menu, which will eventually get you to a lovely customer-service human, who will then set you up with 3 Ghosts tickets in exhange for your credit card number and sufficient funds.

Sufficient funds, you say? How sufficient are we talking here?

Well thank you for asking! They are in fact so affordable, that you could probably get your tickets with what one would normally consider insufficient funds!

In all seriousness, it is nigh impossible to see a show of this caliber anywhere in the vicinity of midtown Manhattan for less than $65. And yet, ours is less than $30. It’s like a Black Friday sale, every day of the week, through Christmas! And, as Black Friday is one of the most important American holidays, you should probably take advantage of that. In bulk.

PLEASE let all of your friends (I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt here) know about our show.  Even if they live far away, or if their funds are even more insufficient than our ticket price, make sure they know about it.  You never know who they might then pass the information on to.  They tell two people, who tell two different people, who each tell two more… it’s just like that Haley Joel Osment movie, Secondhand Lions! (I think… I never saw it. But it’s got Michael Caine in it so it’s gotta be worth something)

Get to it!

*please*
